What a great day! Weather was great, roads were pretty clear and my Kobe burger was excellent. We met at Oakbucks, hung out a little longer than we should have. Got to Sonora at the busy lunch hour, but we found some seats at the bar. The road back was a bit sketchy after the sun heated up all the tar snakes that caltrans had left on the Little Dragon. For the first time since I can remember, I slipped on numerous patches sometimes sending me way off line. I simple reduction in throttle and much more concentration on my lines proved enough to enjoy the rest of our travels. Another great day with good friends.

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve taken Ol’ Yeller out for a street ride. My tummy’s been rumbling for some sweet Kobe beef so tomorrow it’s off to one of our favorite destinations, The Diamondback Grill in Sonora, CA. The bike has a couple track days under its belt so a bath was certainly on order. All washed up and a quick system check has proven that this old dog is clean and running better than ever. Looking forward to spending some time with my old friend on some of our favorite roads. Now, get out and ride.

Well, the day I though would never come, did. The Runt is off to its new home. Although not the fastest, sleekest, or fanciest bike, I sure enjoyed our time together. There is much to be said about riding such a light bike. So much different than the bigger bikes I’ve grown accustom too. This thing was such fun to ride, I will truly miss our trips together.
Picked up these from MotoMummy.com. They had an incredible sale on the Battlax Hypersport S21 tires. I’ve been running the BT-S20 on Ol’ Yeller for a while now, and love how they perform on both the street and track. So I figured the updated triple compound rear might be just what I’m looking for when it comes to good street performance for the Repsol. Well, the wait is over, Moto Mummy had these delivered to my door in just a few days. Looks like it’s time to give the Repsol some much needed TLC and get it ready to thoroughly enjoy the new riding season.

As the afternoon temperatures started to drop, we decided to call it a day. This was my third track day, and it was a pretty good day. Let’s Ride Track Days put on a great event, and since it was the last track day of the year, they followed up with a great BBQ. Not sure how many days I’ll get in next year, but I’m looking forward to visiting Buttonwillow Raceway Park as well as some of the other tracks that California has to offer.

Although the cold temperatures kept down the pace, the track configuration opened up a long back straight, utilizing all six gears and speeds of 150+ MPH which made for a very interesting day. It was a little difficult telling yourself to take it easy on a coarse you usually take much faster but the last thing I wanted to do was throw Ol’ Yeller to the ground.

As we headed to the rider’s meeting, fog rolled in pretty think. Thankfully, after the meeting the fog started to lift and we waited patiently in Randy’s tent until they opened up the track. Yes, Randy brought the HEAT!!!!!

Woke up early, and started our day. Randy got there soon with warm coffee. He enjoyed a nice warm evening at home the night before. 🙂 We quickly set up the additional tent and got the bikes ready to inspection.

We have arrived… We quickly got everything unloaded, and Alan got started on the BBQ. I’m not going to kid you, it was a cold night. I found that December isn’t the best month to be camping out at the track. While Alan got comfy in the lush front portion of the van, I did my best to stay warm in the back, after the generator ran out of juice at some time in the night.
